Looking at recent world events, one might be forgiven for wondering if the Nazis secretly won WW2 and captured the United States. If we look back and forth at war-alliance dynamics then and war-alliance dynamics now, we are struck by how the elites dominating western allies were all against communism leading up to WW2. Yet, these dynastic, corporate, and state leaders, who were so against communism, finished up as allies of Russia during WW2. The conventional explanation is that everyone good united against the Nazis because they were so undeniably evil, in order to save the world. After the war, however, the United States covertly imported multiple Nazis and Japanese specialists in torture, and continued their experiments overseas to inform the CIA and other programs.(Steven Kinzer, Poisoner in Chief: Sydney Gottlieb and the CIA search for mind control, Henry Holt and Co, New York, 2019.) These facts are easily accessible, but until recently, they remained dissonant with overt policy.
Lately, however, the official western WW2 narrative seems to be doubling back on itself. For instance, on 5 June 2019 US-NATO marked the 75th anniversary WW2 D-Day commemoration in Portsmouth, England by including our WW2 enemy, Germany (whose Nazi government began the war) but excluding our WW2 ally, Russia (which had lost 8.7 million military and 19 million civilians fighting the Nazis). In 2004, Russia and Germany had both been invited to the 60th anniversary of D-Day, in the spirit of world peace, but by 2019 US-NATO chose to publicly reverse the most significant feature of the event and to honour its old enemy and disrespect its old friend. (https://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/07/news/dday-60-years-later-60th-anniversary-of-ddayleaders-stress-friendship.html.)
The cognitive dissonance only grew when US-NATO backed actual Ukrainian Nazis to ethnically cleanse Russian-speaking Donbass in East Ukraine, starting in 2014 with Victoria Nuland's and John McCain's presence there to stoke the Maidan fires. By the time war was in full throttle, US Congress was backing these Nazis with more billions of dollars than in any previous war, whilst obfuscating the facts and significance of this, along with President Biden and his family's financial activity and interests in Ukraine.
Such contradictions were shockingly clarified on 22 September 2023 when Canada's parliamentarians all stood to salute and clap the invited appearance of Yaroslav Hunka, a 98 year old Nazi member of the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS and Canadian immigrant, during Ukrainian President Vlodimir Zelenskyy's visit to Ottawa. Yaroslav Hunka was hailed for having fought the Russians - our allies against the Nazis - in WW2. Adding to the irony - there must be a stronger word - maybe cynicism - Zelenskyy's ethnic Jewish background has consistently been used to support denials of the Nazi component of both government and the armed forces in Ukraine.
Among the many contradictions, lies, religious extremes, and odd truths in the history and propaganda of Israel's suburban-development Zionist takeover of Palestine, the similarities between the Nazi Jewish holocaust and the Zionist Gaza holocaust, and the justifications used by their perpetrators, seem to top the charts currently in cognitively dissonant world events. (See a short account here.)
This dissonance reverberates in Australian ears at the cacaphony of similar self-serving government propaganda efforts in relation to Australian Aboriginal rights. Just recently Australian Prime Minister Albanese led an ostentatious bid to reserve, through a change in our constitution, a consultative place in a mere parliamentary committee for Australian First Nations (Australian Aboriginals). That was as close as they were to get to self-determination - a seat on another committee. They were driven into the desert from all the better coastal lands that the British colonial diaspora settled, but it did not end there. They are increasingly diluted, dispersed, and deluged by a constantly expanding stream of new overseas immigrants and overseas-land speculators that is also pushing non-Aboriginal Australian-born people further off the land and further and further from self-determination.
Without speaking of the human flood across the USA's own southern border, displaced by US interference in the south, it is frightening to observe how the United States has backed Israel's continued expansion through mass migration and dispossession and to suppose that it is also behind the continued dispossession of the populations of its vassal states, Australia and Canada, via massive migration-fueled dilution of land-rights and human rights for all but wealthy transnationals.
In the lifetime of a child born today, Australia's population will go from 26.4m to 150m, at current rates of population growth - of which three quarters comes from overseas immigration. What do you think will happen to Aboriginal land-rights, to anyone's land-rights then?
It did not surprise me to hear that there are calls to send displaced surviving Palestinians to Canada and it would not surprise me to hear calls for Australia to take in millions of Israelis. These are calls and plans and projects and wars led by a small international elite consisting of very wealthy individuals, corporations, and state actors - all promoted through a micro-managed syndicated mass media. They do not reflect the opinions, values, and hopes for a quiet life of people on the ground in any of these countries, in whose name all this violence is being committed.
The evil of the Nazi-led Jewish holocaust and reason for World War 2, at the cost of 52m people - are cornerstones of western history and cultural values, but they are in danger of being drowned in the incoherence of supporting Ukraine, and buried under the rubble of Gaza.
If the west is going to openly disrespect these values that once clearly defined post WW2 civilisation and democracy to its beneficiaries, whilst pursuing a Nazi model of world dominance, then perhaps we can only hope for better in Russia and China's multi-polar model of cooperation. I am not in favour of dismanteling the UN because it is currently the only public international forum where we can at least see and hear these matters argued (https://media.un.org/en/search/categories/meetings-events/security-council), even if US-NATO and its allies continue to veto any and all reasonable compromises and consistently fail to reply to reasonable questions and challenges.
As for the truth, the truth is perhaps to be found between the cracks in the shifting narratives and somewhere in the economic divide between the rulers, the ruled, the colonisers, the warmongers, and the displaced. With the rise in draconian new censorship legislation in Europe, Israel, Canada, Australia, and the US, the truth - almost within our reach before Julian Assange was locked away - will grow ever-more elusive.
