Father and son in Gaza City take their two pet lion cubs for a walk - video

Previously published on the PressTV YouTube channel Dozens of locals followed the unlikely pet walk to the beach where they gathered round to take photos with the felines. The owner had purchased the two infant lions from a run-down zoo in Gaza at the start of the year. The cat-loving family has been raising the cubs in a three-room apartment with their four children. But what will happen when the cubs grow up? Your comments invited.

How many wild animals are poached, including juveniles, to be exotic "pets" and meant to be gazed at as freak novelties? These big cats might be docile and adaptable enough as cubs, but they won't stay that way. In a three bedroom apartment in Gaza?

What a disgrace that the zoo even sold the cubs. Zoos are supposed to be operating for the best interests of animals, their welfare and conservation, not selling their wares like a commercial market.

Zoos should all be shelved as relics of the 19th century. How many caged animals are bored, abused and neglected, living in slums and conditions totally inappropriate to their natural habitats.

Zoos are a shame to humanity, and a hideous monument to anthropocentric attitudes.
