Doctor Monique Ryan, the independent MP for the Victorian federal seat of Kooyong, is critical of the Victorian state government's decision to restrict accesss to PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) tests. As the Victorian Government Department of Health (@VicGovDH) tweet, which Dr Ryan has a href="
If this policy is not changed soon, the number of Victorians who will infect other Victorians with COVID-19 will be much larger than it needs be. It could well exacerbate the COVID-19 pandemic in Victoria. A large number of Victorians, as well as inter-state visitors, would suffer adverse health effects, or even death, from COVID-19. This is in stark contrast to Premier Daniel Andrews' handling of outbreaks of COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021 where his lockdown policies severely limited the early COVID-19 pandemic (although his initial mistaken response caused infections to be much higher than they needed to be).
With record case numbers worldwide, unrestricted travel, relaxation of almost all public health measures to contain the spread of COVID … our state govt restricts access to testing and increases the load on GPs.

As reported here on candobetter on 1 Dec 2022, Dr Ryan (@Mon4Kooyong) confronted Anthony Albanese during Question Time in the House of Representatives for his failure to use the powers vested in him as Prime Minister to end the illegal imprisonment of Australian citizen Julian Assange. Hopefully this could cause those supporters of Julian Assange who now reject the prevailing medical opinions on COVID-19 and vaccination against COVID-19, to reconsider those views.
